About Me
My name is MariFuego, and I am a queer trauma-informed bodyworker, guided by my ancestors, blending modalities to create a custom experience that soothes the nervous system through healing touch. Each session is guided by what you share verbally and by attuning to the places where your body is holding tightly and where it’s ready to release, whether physically, emotionally, or energetically.
My bodywork practice is a blend of spirituality, somatics, soft tissue manipulations, herbalism, and energy work. I came to this work after years of running away from my body and emotions to find that the safety and belonging I was searching for was embedded in every pleasure filled sensation I could find within myself.
I received my first training as a bodyworker as a child watching my elders in Mexico. I remember “playing” with ventosas (fire cupping) as early as 5 years old with my cousins. As an adult, I decided to integrate my ancestral knowledge into a profession and completed my massage therapy certification. However, my education and training continues by learning from indigenous healers as well as taking advanced body based courses in kinesiology and muscle rehabilitation. I blend medicines together to address both physical and emotional holding patterns in the body.
