This type of bodywork is not about the muscles but about opening up and connecting with parts of the body that are frozen or armored to create an internal sense of safety.

3-5 sessions are recommended for this type of work in order to take our time, build trust, and go deep into the work. (packages are available here)

My methodology is in the form of an arch of transformation where we build awareness and notice what is, set intentions about what you seek to be different, and create a container to softly come undone and reintegrate afterwards.

Some techniques and practices that we may get into include:

  1. Body mapping – learning what areas store different sensations and emotions that can cause the body to close or clench
  2. Finding pleasing sensations/ Areas of resilience in the body
  3. Guided meditations while holding different pressure points
  4. Breath techniques
  5. Limpias

Types of trauma I work with include: sexual assault, emotional and physical abuse in different types of relationships, immigration, sudden death or loss, reparenting, intergenerational/ ancestral trauma, relational harm, vicarious trauma/ burnout.

Body Armoring/ Bands of Protection

There are many places in our body where we hold unconscious muscular tensions and patterns that have developed over time in response to experiences where we were operating in survival mode. Over time these areas of the body develop physical manifestations, armor, that protects us from unresolved trauma, stress, and negative emotions. Though this armor is very intelligent and has kept us safe in many ways it has also restricted our abilities to connect, access a broader range of emotions, and even experience pleasure in our bodies.

Through bodywork we bring awareness to these areas and invite comfort, softness, and ease to help release and change this armor.
